Infographic cocktails,

Crisp, to the point infographics documenting the perfect make-up of some of the worlds favourite cocktails. Really appropriate use of colour throughout and very professional illustrations.

Andy Gilmore,Digital works,

A very small collection of Gilmores digital work, I prefer these simpler examples to some of his other, more complex peices found here. The use of vibrant colour and simple shape really work for me, could imagine them making some really nice poster designs.

Future Clocks,

Polk. have come up with several 'future clock' designs along with various other flash creations. Some of their takes on this art are rather imaginative, I could imagine the top example to work quite well in watch format. It's surprising how little the way we display time varies, although some of these would be rediculous in terms of everyday use.

 

 

Dribbble,Infographic.

Dribbble is a platform for creatives to show and tell work, current projects and all things design. Jamie Brightmore, a creative designer came up with these infographics to give an idea of what the site is about and who it appeals to.

Light touch projector,

 

 This light projector has upped the levels science wise, using holographic projection technology and an infra-red touch sensitive system. Which is brilliant, but in terms of function and practicality I'm not sure how this has at all advanced from the iPad.


I'm intrigued by the projector more so than the concept. It manages to produce a 10 inch WVGA resolution image at a surprisingly short distance using this holographic technology. Where will the screen take us next...

Infographic research,

'A chromatic guide to bicycle gear ratios' from vengist. Beautiful use of colour and shape, not to sure on how this works in terms of tallying up with actual gears but I'm sure with a more detailed view it would be completely decodable with aid of the key at the bottom. 

Matilda Saxow,

... a Swedish graphic designer and art director based in London, with degrees from the Royal College of Art and the London College of Communications. Her website is beautifully simple, a straight forward left hand menu, with a large .gif flipping between two vibrant patterns as the main focus of the screen.

I feel simple website like this one are definitely the most effective in terms of capturing the audience. In such a vast world of websites, if it isn't crisp with easy navigation I'm definitely prone to not paying it any further attention. Design has to draw me in. 

Grid-A-Licious,Website template,

Available here, Grid-A-Licious is an extremely simple and beautifully laid out website template. As mentioned in the description, it is well recognised within the design world, if anything slightly over used. Nonetheless the design is very crisp, executing perfect grid use.

If the world were a village of 100 people,

Although I'm not entirely keen on the graphic side of these posters, the concept they are representing is rather interesting. As our current project is collection 100, in which my response has started to feed into the infographic area, this project starts to become rather relevant in the way information can be represented. The whole project can be found here along with a short write up.

Collection 100,Whole group crit,DVD sleeves,

I'm looking to produce a copy of my 2 short moving image pieces on a DVD and present it alongside a fold out poster in a tidy little case. These are a few examples of interesting designs encorporating DVD packaging.

 

This specific design is more product based and wouldn't be appropriate for my current project but i love the 'eject' concept it enforces...

 

Not particulary appealing designs at all, I do however like the simplicity of the case, simple half fold ith the DVD sleve inside. I'm probbaly going to persue a slightly more complex version of this style...

Infographic,Apples Rise to No.1

Collection 100,DVD sleeve,

The dimensions of a standard DVD sleeve are: 12 cm x 12 cm (4.75 inches x 4.75 inches).
I shall keep these measurement consistent throughout the finalisation of my production process, not just simply using it for the DVD sleeve and booklet, but working the fold-out poster to these dimensions too. - Maybe even applying it further to my 4 main posters. Working in a 4:3 ratio?

Pantone calendar,

Amazing calendar, consisting of hundreds of photographs using different shades and tone. 

Book of paper,

'Book of Paper' by Oliver Helfrich and Antje Peters. Would really like to get my hands on this book, or at least a few more detailed shots...

Julian Zimmermann,grid design.

I really like the description of this project posted on Julians website.. 'Cover designs for beef magazine issue 03/08 & 04/08 with the topic, grids and crisis. So the idea of the crisis-cover is a blue screen of death — worst case scenario.' 

This use of the grid as image really works well, and the embossed black type on black adds a certain crispness to the design.

Collection 100,Anatomy of the pen.

A few images I found relating to the pens anatomy. It's interesting to see how complex a pen can be. Probably the most complex is exhibited here, the fountain pen. I shall look at 'dissecting' other pens and replicating the one below in illustrator to hopefully produce some clean info-graphics.

Rather amusing advertisement idea for a haulage truck. Loads more here, irrelevant to my project at the moment but some witty ideas.

'The txtBOMBER is a one-hand-guerilla-tool that generates political statements on the fly and immediately prints them on any flat surface...' The write up on Behance Network continues informally to describe this machine by Felix Vorreiter and offers a few more photos in context. Weather or not they are available isn't disclosed but they definitely should be! //VIDEO

Collection 100,CMYK Pen,Beautiful.

...and given it's only a concept pen, the 3D rendering by Roma Lubimov is pretty amazing. More really cutting work on the website.
