Like

Have you ever wondered which brands are most popular on Facebook? Famecount has a list the shows the most “liked” brands on Facebook worldwide. The keyword is “Like” here. Facebook “Likes” are supposed to have less value in the future as Facebook just launched a new metric called “Talking about”. Pages with a high “Talking about” rating are the ones with the most compelling content because the metric will measure user-initiated activity related to a page. Activities include wall postings, “Likes”, commenting, and sharing a page. Marketers have to focus on coming up with compelling content in order to get users to interact more with their pages to score higher “Talking about” ratings. So while it’s good for a brand to have a lot of “Likes”, it’s better to get consumers “Talking about” them.

Top 10 “Liked” Brands on Facebook:
1. Coca-Cola- 34,563,347
2. Starbucks- 25,490,292
3. Oreo- 23,117,266
4. Red Bull- 22,447,819
5. Converse All-Star- 20,795,216
6. Converse- 20,169,668

Strange?

In search for my own graphically orientated collaboration, I looked at wierd and funny collaborations out there. Alongside some cringe worthy design these examples below advertise some unthinkable combinations! I particularly like WORMS AND COFFEE, read as one unified sentence, suggesting one comes hand in hand with the other, brilliant.

Babel

This is a book from my collection that links back to a similar post on my context in which
the same concept of overprinted text is used. The book has a heavy focus on 'communication'
and looks at various projects concerning the theme.

The use of blue and red (although missing from the book) acetate cleverly allows the same
passage written on the same page in two different fonts, to become legible in either style
placed over the page. A beautiful technique to accompany a book concerning the issue of
communication.

Identity

Benjamin Redington created these business cards By using overprint and was able to create a blue and yellow business card with the overlapping colors creating a third color, green. These cards were letter pressed and used the plates pictured below.

Brand collabs

Looking into brand collaboration I found a few unlikely combinations,
also some exceptionally clever ideas that put each brand in a unique
position. I want to find out what makes collaborating with another
company/brand worthwhile, even if it's on the smallest level there has
to be a major underlying benefit.

BEERTENDER
- a collaboration by Heineken and Krups to produce a professional beer tap
and special kegs for home use. Krups are one of the worlds leading forces
when it comes to coffee machines, sleek, quality and an overall respected
name in the field. Heineken beer is another brand known for it's quality
and consistency amongst others of its kind.

Although Heineken could have launched such a product on their own accord,
the reinforcement of another well known and trusted manufacturer (especially
within appliances for home use) in my opinion displays a sense of care and
thought that have gone into the realisation.

BULGARI HOTELS AND RESORTS
Italian luxury products company Bulgari and Marriott Hotels have collaborated
to launch a line of highly affluent hotel resorts spanning globally.
Bulgari are based in Rome and have been creating fine jewellery for over 100
years, renowned for its quality. Today it is a global and diversified luxury brand
with a product and services ranging from watches to skin care.

Teaming up with Marriott hotels was quite possibly one of the best moves to make
when stepping into a hospitality market, (from a completely non-professional
point of view that is) teaming up with a party that have been professionalising in
that environment for years and tailoring certain aspects to fit Bulgaris character.

Honeycomb

Honeycomb booklet package design by Katharina Seiler. Could work really nicely as a publication pack for my project, however I'm unsure of content that could go in it currently.

two genres of music collide. Printed on transparrent yellow stock, the information
